AOSED, University of Fukui, Japan and Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET) Bangladesh, jointly conducted a pilot action research to ensure safe drinking water in the water scarcity areas of the southwest coastal region. Under the demonstration of research, key approaches wear, installation of ‘Tubular Solar Still-TSS’-technology, ensure active participation of communities, capacity development, data analysis and academic initiatives. Success result, easy maintainable technology and methods are well accepted by the communities. Hence, organization will conduct next stage for wider testing and scale readiness to reduce drinking water scarcity through solar energy.
AOSED has taken a pilot initiative to improve safety and security system and practices of sea going fisher communities of climate vulnerable southwest coastal region. The ‘new idea and method’ demonstrated through capacity development, linkage building, local resources mobilization, better use of accessible technologies and equipments and trial basis early warning system development activities. Through this process obtain success and effective result organization will conduct next stage for wider scale testing and readiness to ‘Establish a climate resilience fisher community in southwest coastal region of Bangladesh for long term livelihoods safety and development.
AOSED demonstrated a ‘New idea ’ to increase agricultural production and diversified cultivation round the year, through enhanced farmer’s skill and capacity, water and Soil quality test, seed selection, reduce agro-chemical uses and proper management and maintenance of land and water, considering existing challenges of climate vulnerability in the southwest coastal region.
Based on significant success results and experiences of demonstration, organization’s plan is to go for more mature phase of wider testing to ‘ensure access to secure and sufficient food and nutritious’.
