Post-COP29 Sharing and Planning Meeting

The "Post-COP29 Sharing and Planning Meeting," jointly organized by AOSED and the Climate Justice Forum (CJF), was held on December 7, 2024, at Hotel Western Inn. The meeting was chaired by Professor Dr. Mujibor Rahman, Convener of the Climate Justice Forum for the Khulna Division, and moderated by Dr. Tushar Kanti Roy, Convener of the Climate Justice Forum for the Khulna District.
During the meeting, AOSED and CJF shared the activities they had implemented collaboratively in the lead-up to and during COP29. Reflections on the outcomes of COP29 were presented by Shamim Arfeen, Executive Director of AOSED, Afifat Khanam Ritika, Research Officer at BIMRAD, Md. Saiduzzaman Khan, Programme Development and Quality Manager at the Danish Refugee Council, and Dr. Kazi Maruful Islam, Professor at the Department of Development Studies, Dhaka University. These presentations offered insights into the collective efforts undertaken and highlighted key outcomes and challenges related to climate justice advocacy at COP29.
Discussions during the meeting focused on shaping the future action plan for the Climate Justice Forum. Participants underscored the need for stronger coordination and broader stakeholder engagement to drive climate justice initiatives forward. The meeting concluded with a significant decision to establish a Central Climate Justice Forum in Dhaka, aimed at strengthening national-level advocacy and fostering a unified approach to climate action.
The event reaffirmed the commitment of AOSED and CJF to continue their collaborative efforts and enhance their contributions to achieving sustainable and equitable climate solutions in Bangladesh.
